After one of my speeches an audience member came up to me and asked, “What is the greatest leadership lesson you have ever learned?” I gave it quite of bit of thought and decided the answer was how to prepare to engage as a leader. There are 4 words that will you help engage as a leader. Stop, Think, Construct and Speak.

1. Stop. Pause for a moment.

2. Think about what you are going to say or do next.

3. Construct what you are going to do or say. Think about the words you will use.

4. Speak. Say what you need to say.

People react to how you act. Prepare to engage with those you lead.
